measuring annotations

I have updated to 7.0.9 version and I am unable now to annotate my measurements such as perimeter and area type.
The dialog box changed and there is no Annotate checkbox anymore. Instead, there is a Mark-up Annotations checkbox but it does not make my Perimeters or Areas stay permanently in the PDF. They disappear instantly when I try to measure next Perimeter or next Area, as the Mark-up Annotations checkbox was creating no difference wether checked or not.
Instead, I keep getting the strange shapes drawn in the annotated PDF in completely different area of the drawing. What is also strange I can see all the Areas or Perimeters that disappeared from the view in PDF being still listed in the bottom Comments List. However, the figures in meters or metres square are linked to these strange shapes being located somewhere else in the same PDF drawing.
 
I tried to reset the Properties As Default few times and even done the Detect and Repair and still same problem occurs each time I try Perimeters or Areas. The Distance tool works fine at all these times.
 
What am I doing wrong?

Normal behavior in Acrobat 7.09 is that the measurements appear in popup notes as you draw with the measuring tools. As comment notes, they are also listed in the Comments panel. You should be able to save your file with the measurments preserved in the note popups and Comments panel.

The appearance of strange shapes is irregular behavior. To try to resolve the problem, experiment a little on a blank page (press the Shift key and select File > Create PDF > From Blank Page). Create some measurements to see if the behavior is proper on blank new pages. If it is, you know Acrobat is working properly and perhaps something is going on with the PDF document. If not, you may need to repair the Acrobat installation (Help > Repair Acrobat Installation) or deinstall and reinstall.ted
