I use Acrobat Measure tool to "takeoff" distances and lengths from construction drawings. Is there a way to "count" non-text characters on pdf format construction drawings, by highlighting those counted?

I would look at using the Preflight feature of Acrobat Professional to generate reports about different types of objects.
