Printing with Comments

Hi there,

I have a user who is trying to print a PDF with comments. Without comments, the document prints out just fine. With comments, only the comments show up and the document is blank. It also shows up blank in the preview area on the print pop-up window.

I have tested this on another computer and the same issue occurs- with different documents as well. We have tried using both Acrobat 6 and 7 (both Pro versions). None of the documents tested have any unusual fonts, pictures etc.

Are we doing something wrong or is this a bug?

Sounds like you have only the "Document" select under the Comment and Forms portion of your Print dialog. Make sure you have "Document and Markups" selected. You can find further detail in this tutorial at:

Unforunately, no. I have tried to set the "Print What" option to documents, documents and comments and the same thing happens- the comments show up, but the document behind is invisible/blank/missing.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

Do you have any security settings on the document? Are you printing from a web browser or just in Acrobat?

I am having the same problem. I am using Adobe Acrobat 7.0.9 Professional, if I use the Reader 7.0 or 8.0 the printing with comments work, but in Professional it does not.

It is expected behavior for Reader not to print the comments not the reverse scenario. Can you confirm you're experiencing problems printing comments in Pro. not Reader?
