Dear all

I need to use the sticky note tool function on a PDF file and i'm currently using Adobe Reader 8.0.

The PDF that i have consists of pages and pages of images (no text) and i find that because it has images, the pdf does not allow me to use sticky note tool to put comments on.

I tested it using another PDF (text only) and the sticky note tool was there and allowed me to put comments on

Why can't i use sticky note tool on my other PDF which has images only?

I also find that i can use Adobe professional to use the commenting tool on the PDF, however i don't have that option at the moment.

How can i use the sticky note tool in Adobe reader 8.0 for PDF that has images only? I'm pretty sure that the PDF is unlocked and commenting access is allowed.

Thank you in advance

My Product Information:
Reader 8.1, Windows

benefitgal,
With Reader 8 you can use the Sticky Note tool on a PDF containing an image (e.g., scanned image of text or digital photo) if:

No document restrictions prevent comments.
Use File > Properties > select the Security tab in the Document Properties dialog.
This lets you view a PDF's Document Restrictions Summary.

Then
If the PDF has been Reader enabled the Review & Comment tools are available in Reader.
(Here, you'd be able to add a sticky note.)
If Review & Comment tools are not accessible in Reader the PDF is not Reader enabled.
(Here, you'd not be able to add a sticky note.)

It may be that you have a PDF that is not Reader enabled.

Be well...

Thank you for your reply daka630.

The strange thing is, if i open the document with Reader it says "Commenting: Not allowed"
But if i open with with Adobe Pro 6.0 it already says "Commenting: allowed" .

I don't have access to Adobe Pro 6.0 all the time and the only one i have at home (which i can use everyday) is the Reader.
Thus I need the reader to enable me to use the Sticky note tool.

Probably the creator who created my PDF at the first place didn't allow commenting. But again it is strange that I can do it in the adobe pro 6.0 which says commenting is allowed, but not in the adobe reader.

Acrobat will show commenting is allowed unless the document security disallows it.

Reader will show commenting is disallowed unless the document usage rights allow it.
