text size/font properties bar for text box

I use Acrobat 8 std for viewing development mechanical dwgs. I like to use the text box to put comments on the drawings. I am trying to figure out why that sometimes when I click and start typing in a text box that the text size/font properties bar shows up and sometimes it does not. I would like it to show up if it is not there and don't know how to do this. Can you help me with some instructions? Thank you. JT

I think this might be a side effect of Acrobat's new way of handling toolbars. Ted has a blog on this:

Basically, each document has a toolbar setting that reflects the toolbars visible when the PDF was last saved. If the document has never been opened before, then there is a default setting, which reflects the toolbars when acrobat was last closed.
