Just upgraded from 7 Std to 8.0.0 Pro for a trial period of 30 days. With 7 I was using typewriter a lot. I can't select typewriter in Tools. Switching the toolbar on and off has no effect.
 
Do I have missed something? Or do I have to switch back if I need typewriter immediately?

The typewriter tool is fully functional in Acrobat Pro. 8., so I would make sure that the PDF you're working in doesn't have security set that disallows changing the document.

Another thing to consider is that the new default in Acrobat 8 is to deselect the tool when you move the cursor outside the text box.
