Hi --

The difference in function results from whether or not the tool is enabled.

In Acrobat 8 Professional, you can enable a file for commenting in Adobe Reader. The Typewriter tool can be similarly enabled.

Open the PDF in Acrobat Professional, choose Tools > Typewriter > Enable Typewriter Tool In Adobe Reader, and save the PDF.donna.

On my document, the Enable Typewriter Tool isn't "enabled". I can't click on it.

It only works with Acrobat 8 Pro, and is part of the document enablement process.

This could also depend upon the PDF was created. For example, LiveCycle Designer forms do not allow commenting from the standard Acrobat versions or the author could have set the secruity to not allow commenting. Acrobat Standard version 7 also has the typewriter tool.

I have a few end-users (not all) whose typwriter tool is typing from right-to-left! Is there a way to reset it to typw left-to-right?

I would like to let our dealers personalize our brochures by adding their information. I see how that can be done with the typewriter tool to insert text.

Is there a way to let them add their logo?

Displaying of the Typewriter tool is dependent on the product you're using (i.e., Reader or Acrobat), whether or not you're in the browser, and if the PDF is static or dynamic. Check out the following technical note for further details.

What tool will the dealers be using Acrobat or Reader?
