I use Acrobat 6.0 professional, but recently installed the 8.0 reader. Now when I try to run 6.0 professional, it launches the 8.0 reader. This happens even if I use program manager to directly launch the exe file in the 6.0 directory. Is there any way to use both on the same computer, or do I have to uninstall 8.0 reader to use 6.0 professional? Thanks!
This happens on on my system as well and with other versions of Acrobat. Part of the problem is that Reader is still in memory even though you may have closed the program. There are various workarounds: Try these...
1. Easiest is to do Control-Alt-Delete to bring up task manager and look for Acrord32.exe and close it. That clears it from memory and Acrobat Professional should then launch correctly.
2. Something else might be to reinstall Professional, so that it is the last program installed. That may also clear up the problem.
I have both Acrobat Professional (8 in my case) and Acrobat Reader 8 installed; and have the same problem you are describing....if Reader in in memory then even though I try to launch Professional Reader launches. I have found that just clearing Reader from Memory is the best way to deal with this problem. Just one of those things!!
Hope this helps.

Acrobat is probably the program I use most often and I'm learning more every day.
