Grayed out menu options in Acro Standard 8

I work at a University as a tech support specialist. One of our users has an Acrobat Standard 8 problem where many menu items (delete page, add page, etc) are grayed out and inaccessible. It happens with every PDF, regardless of security settings. Note that the computer is running Vista.

The user does NOT have admin privileges, but when I log on with an account that does, all of the above options are available, so I suspect it has something to do with admin rights. I'm not about to grant her admin access to the machine get these features in one application.

How do I work around this problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8.1.1, Windows

Have the updates been applied. Version 8.1 on works with Vista.

Are the PDF's on network drives? If so try saving on the local hard drive.
