Help - it continues to crash my computer

I downloaded Acrobat Professional 8, and it consistently crashed my computer after making the pdf. I was unable to open the pdf on my computer after it was made, and had to send it to another computer to open.
I uninstalled the program through my control panel, and downloaded just the reader to check my files, the Adober Reader 8 crashes whenever I attempt to open a pdf file.
A developer previously told me I have to manually uninstall all the Adobe Acrobat files first, reboot, and then re-install the reader and then when its working, reinstall the full program.
Help?

Hi --

I don't work on Vista, but I haven't heard you had to uninstall manually. When you try to produce a PDF file, where are you working from? And are you specifying to open the file after conversion? Here's an example: suppose you are converting a Word doc. In Word, choose Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings to open the Acrobat PDFMaker dialog. On the Settings panel [which shows by default] deselect View Adobe PDF result, and click OK. Now try to build the PDF file.Another thing you should do is have Acrobat check its installation. Choose Help > Repair Installation, and let the program check all its installed features and make repairs as necessary.donna.
