Pre-serializing Acrobat Pro 8.x on Mac OS X?

Hi there,

I work at the University of Notre Dame, and we have licenses for concurrent deployment of some Adobe products, like Photoshop and Acrobat Pro. Basically this entails me, installing the product on a test Mac, capturing the bits of the install, replacing the application with a keyed version of the app that requires a connection to our keyserver for launching the keyed app, and then bundling all the bits into a package for campus distribution.

In the case of Photoshop CS3, Adobe provided us with an easy way to add some xml to the installer to pre-serialize the install. This allows us to keep the serial number with our license person, and hand out the installer to the campus for their installs.

Along comes Acrobat Pro 8 and its completely different than your other installers. It does not seem to offer the pre-serialization option, and it has so far resisted my attempts to move it to any other machine without having to re-enter the serial numbers manually. This is a big problem for deployment here. Can you offer any help?

thank you,

Hi,

There isn't an enterprise install method for the Mac with just Acrobat from Adobe. You might search the web, because I think there might be some third-party solutions, but I don't know for sure.

I am a long-time Acrobat user, an employee of Adobe Systems, and Maine native. I have created training videos for Total Training, consulted with people to help them better use Acrobat, and developed new business for Adobe as a Business Development Manager
