Trying to Install Acro 8 Pro from CS3 install DVD in VISTA 64

Hello Everyone-

I am coming here looking for a solution. I have an original (first release) Creative Suite 3 Design Premium DVD.

I just got a new system that is a quad core and runs Vista 64-bit.

When I am trying to install my entire CS3 onto the machine, everything works/installs fine EXCEPT ACROBAT PRO.

The installer just reports that it didn't install successfully, and doesn't give any further info.

By reading some threads here I have deduced that 8.0 is not 64-bit compatible, and I would need 8.1...however, if 8.0 won't install properly from my DVD, then how am I to update to 8.1 and make everything work.

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks!

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.0, Windows

This is a forum - this is not Adobe or Microsoft support.

Why do you not go to the Adobe web site and search ? I went to the Adobe web site and simply searched for "Acrobat 8.0 Vista"

Also - If you have purchased or otherwise have a valid Adobe application installer CDs, you should contact Adobe support.

But you should first take a peer at these links

Yeah, I know its a forum...and it's entitled "DEPLOYMENT & INSTALLATION" Hence why I asked about an installation problem here.I had searched the Adobe Support site and didn't find anything particularly helpful.

I don't appreciate the seemingly smart ass remark about this not being support. This is a user community, thus user to user support. If you didn't mean it that way, fine, but that's how it came across.

Thanks for the links though...that's the kind of help I was actually looking for.

However, with regards to the 8.1 update (one of the things I specifically asked about) how can I install it, if the original installer is telling me that the installation failed - So I guess that solution doesn't work.

So I'm still at square 1.

I was not intending to respond with 'smart' remarks.

I was just pointing out that perhaps if you had not looked already, that you might start there.

I made a quick Visit to the Vista Help page, searched for Acrobat 8, found this hit;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936647

I know that this seems like a chicken and egg thing - you can't install Acrobat 8 so you can update to 8.1, so you seem stuck, but clearly Adobe has addressed this issue - you may need to patch Vista, then try and install Acrobat 8.

I would venture to guess Acrobat 9's installer get past this limitation, and would point out that Acrobat 8 came out before Vista went gold (and as Adobe states repeatedly)

Adobe was blind sided by a few last minute changes in Vista, which means the installers on the CD do not work - Adobe has a BUNCH of pages on this, but if this were me, I would be insiting that you purchased a product, it will not install properly, and ask for a new set of CD's a free upgrade or a URL where you can download something that resolves this issue.

This is clearly both Adobe issue, one caused by Microsoft, but know that both Microsoft and Adobe have addressed this issue - here is one link to one issue - there are many many more...

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401731&sliceId=2I went to the Adobe web site and opened the;

Adobe Creative Suite 3 Support Center"

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/microsites/microsite.do?msid=MS_CS3_1_1

Selected "Installation Help"

No, one the matter of why this forum even has a catagory named "DEPLOYMENT & INSTALLATION" - I would say this is a very active forum area when a new version comes out and it messes everyone up. As you are speaking of installing CS3 with Acrobat 8, I suspect that these CDs were burned around March of 2007 - light years ago !http://tryit.adobe.com/us/creativesuite/family/?sdid=CVXKB

Good luck with all that. It was not my intent to be rude or insulting.
