Hello, I will upgrade from Acrobat Std ver 7 to ver 8 and my 500 users have and use digital signatures. I do not have a security server, but have setup a self signing signature on each PC. I will use customization wizard and deliver the update using my Zenworks server. I know the upgrade will work fine, but is there a way to have the digital signature settings remain for use in the new version of Acrobat? Is there a file which contains the digital signature setting, which I can copy over to the correct location in the newly installed version? It will be a huge task to reinstall/reconfigure all of the digital signature settings manually. Thanks for the input.

Hey there AdobeUser,

How are your DigSigs stored? PKCS#12 Digitial ID file or Windows Cert Store?

If it is in the windows Cert Store, A8 will automatically import it into Acrobat with everything intact.

If it is in a PKCS#12 file, they will need to browse for it and import it. Their password will be needed to accomplish this.

The A7 ID's are stored in:
C:\Documents and Settings\>loginID<\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\7.0\SecurityA8 IDs are in:
C:\Documents and Settings\>loginID<\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0\SecurityNote: When they 'add' it in A8 the file is not moved - only referenced pointer is created in the local address book! Something to keep in mind if you ever decide to indiscriminately scrub everything 'A7' ish off the HDD. The scrubber baked into Da' Customizer will only remove what Adobe installed. Additional files will not be removed. Nor will directories be deleted if they still contain files added after the product was installed.

My suggestion would be to place these on the user's LAN 'home' drive, if they have one. That way they are accessable from any workstation they log on to, they are backed up as often as the rest of the files are, are not dependent on the Acrobat version and do not require you to update your documentation with each relase of Acrobat.

Also, you cannot just copy the file from A7 to A8 - it must be imported.

Some searching on the registry did not turn up any hacks that will make life easier.

Lastly, a re-review of Customization Wizard didn't turn up anything, either.
