Assigning Text as the form field, not a blank or underline field

Hey guys,

So I have a file which is designed in inDesign and it has certain elements I want to convert to form fields.

For example, there's a First Name, Last Name typed in the document that are already filled out in the document with those same values as just normal text. I want to be able to either run the recognition or assign the form field to be that current text field to preserve the font, size, color and positioning. Is there a way to do this?

I'm using version 8 and 9.

Thanks.

Acrobat Pro 9.1.3, Macintosh

By default, Text fields that are created using the auto field detection feature automatically have the font size set to “Auto”, which means that text in the field will shrink to fit the field as data is entered. In addition, the default font for the Text field is Helvetica.

Also, the Form Field Recognition tool won't run if you have pre-existing fields on your form.
