Change RadioButton Option

Hello all. I am new to this forum and fairly new to Acrobat.

I have a set of interactive pdf forms (created by someone else) that use radio buttons. All of the radio buttons are set in the Designer to "solid square" appearance. On some of the button sets, the selected "button style" displays a solid circle when selected. On other button sets, the "button style" displays an "X" when selectd. I want to change the style on all radio buttons to an "X" .

The online help says to use the Forms toolbar Radio Button Options Tab to change the button style, but there doesn't appear to be a Forms toolbar in the Designer. When I open the form in Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional the Forms toolbar is there, but is grayed out.

How can I set radio button option to show an X when selected on all of my forms ? How do I enable the grayed out Forms toolbar ?

Thanks....

If the form was created in Designer you will need to be in designer to change any field settings.

Once the form is opened in Designer you can select the radio button or buttons to change then using the Object panel you can select the appearance of the radio button. If the Object panel is not showing select your Window Menu, then select Object, inside the panel use the Field tab and select the appearance you want to use for your buttons.

Thanks nsell for trying to help out.

Yes, these forms were all created in Designer.

The "Appearance" setting on the Field tab is already set to "Solid Square" which is where I want it. This is not the setting I want to change. The setting that I am trying to change is the "Button Style" not the "appearance", and that option, "Button Style" is the one I can't locate in Designer. The problem is that on some of my forms, the button style is set to place a circle in the selected button, on others, it places an "X" in the selected button. I would like to know how to change the "Button Style" so that all of them place an "X", or cross, in the button when selected.

The setting you are looking for should also be in the Field tab. If it's a Radio button the setting you change is Button Sytle. If it a Check box you change the Check style.

Thanks Again Nsell,

I'm sure my problem is my lack of experience navigating the Designer. If you take a look at the picture in the link below:

http://www.mountainstatestech.com/house/pics/radio-button.php

You will see that the only options available on the Field tab are Appearance, Type, Presence, and Locale....I don't see any way to change the Style. There must be a way since some of my forms have the X style and some have the circle style, but I can't find it.....I am using Acrobat Pro 7.0....

Thanks again for trying....

It may be that you have the group selected rather than the button itself. Different options appear in the Field tab depending on whether you have the radio button group selected or a button within the group.

I think the problem is, that your version of Designer is 7.2.
It does not support alternative styles for checkboxes and radio buttons.

Here is a note about this by Adobe:
