Hello: We create PDF forms programmatically on the fly. we need to extend the usage rights to Adobe reader without opening the file in acrobat. Can anyone point me to the method to activate the reader extended form programmatically? What is the code I need to achive this?

You can do this with LiveCycle Reader Extensions, but it is not possible with Acrobat.

Hi: The otion to extend the usage rights to reader is indeed a Acrobat feature and not a lifecycle feature (Advanced/Enable Usage Rights In reader) but my question is spacific to not using either application to achive this. Again I am creating PDF's on the fly "Programmatically" using code from PDFlib. I need to add as a final step in the form creation the reader extended fillable form. How can I set this feature programmatically?

Yes, it is a feature in Acrobat 8 Professional and Acrobat 9 Standard & better and limited to a distribution of 500 copies of the form, but you can not use that feature programmatically nor use either Acrobat product on a server.To add the Extended Rights using a server unattended or for distribution of more than 500 forms, you will need to obtain the LiveCycle ES server product.
