How do I figure out what is triggering the message "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."?

By the way - I'm asking for how to learn more about what causes the stated error message in general - not in my specific situation.

Is there a place that I could study to get more detailed information about what causes a particular error message?
