I'm using a form that erases data that I have previously saved. I did not create the form. Is there any way I can set this form to retain my data?

NO is the answer to your question. See my post if you haven't already

Adobe with their latest release, have now disabled the saving of all completed forms locally with Reader and you can only email the data if there is a 'submit' button on the form. As mentioned even with Pro 7 you can NO longer save once saveable, editable forms for the recipients who just have Reader.
Adobe are now trying to reap as much as they can when they release new software by disabling, previously accessible items and line their now grubby pockets by the look of things. I'm spreading the word.
So, what can you do, either buy the Full Pro 8 (not 7) or buy someone elses PDF creation software which will be cheaper.
Otherwise, I'm sorry to say .... your buggered!!! Thanks Adobe!
