In acrobat 8 Pro when form field recognition is run and it recognizes and field that should not be a "fill in" field, how does one turn it off?

After the field is created, change the specific field's properties.

This tells me nothing. Remember if I knew how to do this I wouldn't have bothered to post the message in the first place.

Hi FLEFF,

"This tells me nothing. Remember if I knew how to do this I wouldn't have bothered to post the message in the first place."

I doubt if gkaiseril (who is SUPER kind to offer all the free advise he does here) will respond since your reply is rather rude.

To change a field's properties-
1. Click on the Select Object tool. This will put all the fields in editable mode.
2. Place your cursor in the field and Right click which brings up a context menu.
3. From that Context Menu you can choose Edit -> Delete if you want to delete the field.
4. From that Context Menu you can choose Properties to change the field's properties.

Please be considerate in your replies, even if the answer is not exactly what you want.

Hope that helps,

Dimitri

Is there a way to turn off the auto-recognize form fields feature?

Fleff,

Have you looked at the home page of the AUC, there is a wealth of AcroForms information available there.

Other helpful links:

SDK: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/
Acrobat JavaScript documentation: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/javascript.php

amerrick,

Form field recognition is not automatically preformed, one has to click on the tool before it will be run.

When opening a PDF with interactive element, an auto-recognize form warning dialog box that says "Please fill out the following form. If you are the form author, choose Distribute Form in the Forms menu to send it to your recipients".

I do not want this to happen as there are no forms in this PDF document. Can I disable this feature? (Acrobat Pro 8).

That is a message bar for interactive form fields. You can turn it off by editing you application's form preferences. This will not affect other users of this form.

This is different than the "form field recogniton" tool to help idendtify possible form fields for interactive fields.

This message bar alos contains other information about the capabilities of the form status.

This message bar has been available from version 6 on for Acrobat and Reader.

I still do not understand your answer. I have a form with some interactive fields. There is one field at the end that a person is supposed to sign. It is an interactive field because form field recognition saw an underline and deemed it as interactive.
How do I turn just this one field off and not affect the rest of the form?
May I email you the form. It will take only 1 minute for you to see what I am talking about. It is a very short form.
