Hi

I'm new to Acrobat. I am a graphic designer working in Real Estate. I make flyers for agents and brokers. I'm trying to find a way to make the whole design process easier and more efficient. I am wondering if this concept is possible. I have a few question below is a sample flyer that maybe someone can help me with...

Questions

#1 Is it possible for me to design the "background" of the flyer and create form boxes on-top of the design so that agents can "fill-in" the required information at their respective locations (See the Red Boxes)?

#2 If the agent can add text, can they also add images/photos (See Orange Boxes)?

It would be extremely useful if I can design the background and have agents do the rest or edit the information on their own.

I'm imagining the agent would open the flyer, add their contents, and can save/print the flyer on their own without having to bug me every 5 minutes for changes.

Is this possible? Thank you in advance for any help!

R

Hi IdeaJunkie,

As long as you are not doing it from the free Adobe Reader (all your agents own a copy of Acrobat Standard or Pro) what you want to do is possible. In the JavaScript reference look at the field.buttonImportIcon function. You can download the JS Ref here-

Hope this helps,

Thank you so much for the help...

It would be convenient for Agents to import photos and text using Reader... I don't think all of them have Acrobat. Plus, most of them wouldn't bother buying a program. However, if they can change it on Reader that would be great...

Hey Merlin - Thanks! Got LiveCycle and it does exactly what I need it to do. However, I know if opened in Reader you cannot SAVE the PDF, but is there a way around this besides buying PRO? Possibly emailing a copy?

Hi IdeaJunkie,

You can open the form in Acrobat and under the Advanced menu Apply Usage Rights for Adobe Reader- this will let a Reader user both fill and save the form. It works for both AcroForm and LiveCycle Designer PDF forms. The EULA states this is limited to 500 users if you have a defined group which it sound like you do in this case, but read the EULA to be sure you are within the bounds of those terms.

Hope this helps,
