How do I set an internal margin of a form field?

The highlight area overlays the instructions, so I would like to use a shorter highlight field without changing the font size. If I reduce the height of the fillable field, the type is cut off. I know I can set it to upper case (so decending characters don't get cut off), but how do I get a smaller margin on the bottom so I can maintain the font size?

You have not control over that, but you can try using two separate fields. The first would simply provide the border/background and be set to read-only. The other would be the field that contains the text and be set to have a transparent border and background color. You'll just have to get the sizes and positions set to what you want.

Thanks for the creative approach! That doubles the size of my PDFs and makes the user experience for download time longer.
