Importing 1 form to another for auto-population??

Well I have a data set with various legal documents in them that have the same repetative requirements (client address, our address, client address...etc, etc.) I have created a second document that I give to my sales reps and so then they can fill it out, email it back to me, and that brings me to my goal of somehow importing it to the original data set and have it auto-populate all the corresponding fields. As far as I know all the form fields names are the same and I've tried saving the second document in different formats (xml, txt, pdf, etc.) From what the Acrobat help says it's possible and I'm going in the right direction, it just doesn't seem to work. I really need help on this, so any advice would be much appreciated. Thank You.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

In AcroForms, you can export to the FDF or XFDF formatted file and import this exported data file into another PDF form and all fileds with the save name and value will populate with the data from the fist PDF.

Pardon me for sounding dense, but is AcroForms another program? Or is it in the reader itself? And how would I go about taking my second form and formatting it to a FDF file? I'm assuming it needs to be in fdf form for me to be able to import it to my file set to populate the proper fields. Thanks

Nevermind, I have figured it out. Thank You for your help. One more question though. My co-worker made a document that she intended to do what I was trying to do by auto-populating some documents, however she created her document in the LiveCycle Designer. I can't export this information into an FDF, is it possible? Or do I need to have all potential auto-populating files created in the reader itself? Thanks

FDF files do not work with LiveCycle Designer XML forms so one needs to use the import and export as XFDF, but since the form field structure is different, you ccould have real problems getting the field names to match up.

Instead you should look at posting the data to a data base using ADBC in forms developed in Acrobat and a data connections in the forms created by LiveCycle Designer.

Thank you for your help. I didn't really understand any of the abreviated references you made in your last post, but I have figured out how to utilize a LiveCycle form by importing it into another to auto-populate, so I thought I'd share for other users.

I took the LiveCycle form and exported it into an XML format, then with the form I wanted to Auto-populate I saved it as an XML file as well, and then from that form imported the LiveCyle xml form and WAH-LA! You just have to make sure while in the LiveCycle program that you name your fields the same as what you named your original pdf file as before you saved it as an XML file.

Thank you again for your help, this will win me some points with the boss for finally finding a solution! :)
