Inserting .flv file in Presenter/PowerPoint

I have an flv file that I want to insert into a PowerPoint 2007 presentation, using Adobe Presenter. However, it will only allow me to insert an .swf file. Adobe Support tells me that I have to buy Flash or some converter and convert from flv to swf. The promotional materials that it would use both flv and swf files.

Any suggestions, other than spending a few hundred dollars for Flash?

Hi Ed,

I'm not sure why Adobe support told you this, but new in Adobe Presenter 7, is the ability to embed FLVs onto the slide. In fact, new in version 7 is automatic encoding of non-Flash video into Flash video simply by importing the video into Presenter (much like Acrobat 9 Pro does now)

Here is a direct link to the product docs that walks you through how to do this:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Presenter/7.0/help.php?content=WSB0BC652B-0FD2-4249-B3E1-E28ABB927058.php

I hope this makes it more clear for you. Also if you are planning on using Presenter a lot I encourage you to join our user site at www.connectusers.com. There is a dedicated Adobe Presenter Forum on there are a host of product experts who have been working with the product since v.1 to answer you questions.

Thanks. I may need to contact Tech Support again. I tried to insert the video file into the PowerPoint slide, and the conversion window wouldn't convert the file. The promotional materials seem to show just what you are saying, not what the Tech Support guy said.

By the way, in my experience, Adobe Tech Support has been exemplary.
