I know you could not get rid of it in Adobe 8. Is it true for Adobe 9 Pro? I would like it removed.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

Hi
While, in both Acrobat 8 and 9, the forms document message bar will be present it can be hidden
almost immediately after the PDF is opened.
When "hidden" there will be an icon in the Navigation panel.
But no purple bar across the PDF.

For both Acrobat 8 & 9:
Edit > Preferences > select Category "Forms" > in the General tab, select/check
"Always hide forms document message bar"

Be well...

Be well...

Cmd/Ctrl-D (File -> Properties)
