Sending Acrobat Reader forms with permissions

Hello everyone, hope someone might be able to assist me with this.

A friend of mine developed a proposal form so that I may fill out using my Adobe Reader (I do NOT own Acrobat) and send out to customers, for example via email attachments; the form as I got it has ability to fill out and save the filled out form (data, etc.).

I would like to be able to send to a prospect/customer the form so he may view the form, without ability to edit the contents, is it possible for me to add restrictions using Adobe Reader before sending the form to a customer so that he may not modify fields?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

My Product Information:
Reader 9.2, Windows

Hi lcg,

No, you cannot add security features to a PDF with Adobe Reader- you need Acrobat for that.

Hope this helps,

Hello Dimitri,

Thank you for your response.

I did think of changing the PDF file attribute to read-only, this would at least not allow a customer to save the file should he make changes (of course as long as he doesn't change back the file attribute) ...are there other easy tips/solutions/solftware/plugins that I may use (with Reader)?

...mind you protection is not that critical, I just need a way to avoid someone from perhaps adding something to a field, and then saving it, again protection is not that critical.

Thanks again.

Hi lcg,

Just to make sure I understand- do you have Acrobat or only Adobe Reader?

If you only have Adobe Reader then No, unfortunately I do not know of any way to add security, even light security, to the PDF with only Adobe Reader.

Hope this helps,
