suddenly "end user rights" error after weeks of normal operation

I created a simple form (name/company fields, radio and check boxes, rest and submit via email buttons) with User Rights Enabled and posted it on a website for people to access. For 3 weeks the form worked perfectly fine for users, until yesterday. Suddenly the “this file has been modified after the end user rights were enables” error started appearing to some users.

The form can be found at https://support.yardi.com/yasc.asp under “Event Brochure” (direct link http://support.yardi.com/Events/YASC08/Fall%20YASC%20Brochure.pdf). Thus far the Course Selection Form is working correctly, both files were created on the same day in the same way with the same settings. There is also a Golf Registration Form that was created a few months ago that the trouble machine can open with out the error.

The files have not been changed at all since they were uploaded 3 weeks ago, and work correctly on all but one computer tested at work. We tried re-uploading the original file to the server and are having the same problem.

Any one have any idea why the file suddenly stopped working? Why it works on most computers, but not some? I thought it must have some thing to do with the the new Acrobat Reader 9, but the problem machines have 9 as do I and it still doesn’t work for them. Please help, this for is critical to a conference happening next week. Thank you!

Looking at the file, the rights signature is corrupted. I would be surprised if this file ever worked in Reader. It would still work if the user had Acrobat installed. You should be able to remove and reapply rights to make the file work. To test this, I did "Save a Copy" to remove rights and then using Acrobat pro, Advanced > Enable Features in Adobe Reader. You can also reprocess the file through LiveCycle Reader Enablement. The byte range in the signature in wrong.

Thank you for your response. Do you have any idea how the rights signature got corrected? Is there some place within Acrobat that I can see this for myself?

It's so strange that the file was working for weeks then suddenly stopped working (for a select few).

I had a co worker resave it useing Acrobat 9 (I'm still on 8), and it seems to be working again, Hopefully it'll stay that way.
