Text field - Size limit

We have an Acrobat file that was created in version 5. We are using it to create a report from a 3rd party packaged application. We are using the vendor's scripting tool to dynamically populate the fields on this .PDF file.

For the most part the script is working but when it runs, the text field is only displaying the first 255 characters, even though we have set the "Limit of" field to 5000. We also tried setting the "Limit of" filed to 0 but the results are the same. The vendor says that Abobe Acrobat has the 255 character limitation and that the problem is with Adobe Acrobat and not their application.

Does anyone know if a text field in Acrobat 5 has a size limitation of 255 characters? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999

Are you referring to an actual field on the page, or a document info value? If docinfo, I went through this and discovered that the Acrobat interface displays up to 255 characters, but exposing the docinfo with JavaScript (and Catalog, for search) uses the full value.
