I am using Acrobat 8 Professional.
My typewriter has always typed in black until recently. My hard drive crashed and I got a new one and after I reinstalled the program my typewriter is now red.
I want the black text, not red. How can I get it back?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.0, Windows

Hi acrede,

This was reported some time ago and I believe it was fixed in 8.1 and later. I say I believe because I have never experienced this red text issue, but plenty other people have. You should update from 8.0 ( lots of other stuff got fixed in 8.1, 8.2, 8.2.1, 8.2.2, etc) to see if that fixes it. Here is a thread that discussed the issue quite a while ago-

Hope this helps,

I followed those instructions. I downloaded all available upgrades (I am now on 8.1.3) and went through each step carefully. When I get to the part where I am to 'right click' and supposed to get a window with 2 tabs, one of which says 'appearances', that just simply does not happen. I get a window with 1 tab that just asks about authorship of the object and everything is greyed out anyway so it is no help.

Any other ideas?

Hi acrerde,

There have been many more updates beyond 8.1.3 released (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows ). What a frustrating problem. I would try Repair from the Help menu first. Beyond trying the registry fix mentioned in that earlier thread, which can be hazardous if you don't know much about doing it, I don't know how to fix it.Hope this helps,

Dimitri

Have solved the issue with the red typewriter font with Adobe 8.2.5. Must make registry change.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Adobe/8.0/cFreeText_003aFreeTextTypewriter/crichDefaults/cTextColor

I changed
(default) Data to 1.000000
a0 Data to B
d1 Data to 0.000000
d2 Data to 1.000000
d3 Data to 1.000000

This corrected problem for me.
