Users unable to save PDF with form fields

Our team has been creating PDFs with form fields using Acrobat Professional V6 and 7. When a user accesses the form online (using Reader 6/7) and adds data in the fields they can not save the PDF file to a local drive. What do I need to do or buy to make the "save" functionality work for my users? Thanks

Acrobat 8 Professional OR Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server will enable you to "Reader Enable" your PDFs.

Go to "Advanced" in the menu bar and select "Enable Usage Rights".
Follow the instructions of Acrobat and save the form to your local drive.
Then you can use this "enabled form" for distribution.
Users will be able to select "save as..." from the file menu, when they open the form.

Hi skrdigital,

After you apply the usage rights as explained in the previous post, only people with Adobe Reader 7 or above will be able to save the form so you will need to get everyone to update to at least Reader 7 ( at least this is my recollection when this feature was added to Acrobat Pro).

When you say "flattered" I assume you mean "flattened" and for that you will need to add some script to a save button or the Will Save event.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

But the 'flattenPages()' method is not available to Reader.

Signature fields are only available to Reader when the LiveCycle server is used to add signature rights.

Oops- thanks for the correction gkaiseril,

I was thinking of a script that would make the fields ReadOnly, not flatten them. I'm pretty sure I've seen that used before but will have to test it out now to be sure it still works in the newest versions.

Hello,

Thanks Mr. gkaiseril, Ms. Dimitri & Mr. radzmar for your responsesI have created a form, the form contains 2 input fields

1st input field = topic
2nd input field = Enter Name

If you provide me your email IDs. I can provide Form.

We need to answer all the questions & press submit button, It will dynamically generate the report as a another pdf. It is working in Acrobat professional (CS3) only. The requirment is when the user press the submit button it should take the file name of 1st input field & 2nd input field and save the generated report in the d:\ drive or server (IP Address) automatically. If you provides the javascript or any option, It will be greatful.

Thanks & Regards,
Kumar.
