binding 2 nodes to one field?

I'm a beginner with LiveCycle and with databases. I'm struggling through creating a form to update my database. I've been able to connect to my database a couple different ways. What is the best way to enter data into a field bound to my primary key in one table of my database and automatically create a record in another table which uses the same data as a foreign key?
