Converting LiveCycle Designer Forms

I designed forms in Adobe Professional version 8 using the Livecycle Designer. My web developer tells me most of my website end-users would need to install a compatible reader to access my pdf forms - an inconvenience I don't want my potential clients to experience. How can we get around this problem? Can I convert these forms to more universal versions such as Adobe version 6? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Personally, I would create a personal link directing clients to the latest version to Adobe Reader. I don't think clients would have a problem doing that. That's what I did on my company website because I did see a lot of employees with versions 5, 6, and 7 on their machines.

However, Livecycle does let you save your forms to older versions. In the File Menu under Form Properties click the Defaults Tab and click the Choose Version to run form in.

Thank you, Tech 264. I may have to heed your personal advise about redirecting my clients to newer version. When I converted a form to version 6, all the drop-down fields made the first selection text visible on the PDF version, where default is or blank on the original. Do I need to make adjustments on the converted version to make it look exactly like the original design?
