ok now looking at the forms on this forum under forms_gallery

how come 'ITS project request/charter' form
can't be sent by Adobe reader 9 through email as a filled in form

where the 'expense report' can be sent but only the template form

and other can be but only the core data and not the form ?

is this all in how the template is setup and if so where can I find out the limitations?

What I was after is a form to be filled out, emailed with content >
received given a reference number & emailed back > then emailed off again for approval & then on again if required. (Digital signature at this point would be good)
Ideally with the end users (Not creator) having just Adobbe 9 reader ? or would they require more?

many thanks

Alex

All of that is indeed determined by how the form is set up by whoever created it. For filled-in forms to be saved with Reader, the document has to be Reader-enabled, which Acrobat 8 Pro and Acrobat 9 can do. I can't tell you everything you need to know in one post, but fortunately there's a lot of information here that you can peruse. Check out the Learning Center link above.

I am developing a series of survey forms to send out to internal customers either directly from the LiveCycle Designer or Acrobat 9 Distribution channel. Unfortunately, there is a possibility of various respondents having no higher than Reader 7 and rare case of Reader 6.

What problems can I anticipate? Moving to the upgrade of Reader 8 or 9 is restrictive for some groups, so I am stuck with some constituents responding with Reader 6 or 7.

Are there work arounds (not perfect but suitable?

Will users be able to open the forms in Reader 6 and 7 and just not be able to submit responses electronically?

Can the forms be filled in and printed in either 6 or 7?

Reader 6 and 7 users will likely more problems with forms created with LiveCycle Designer, particularly dynamic XFA forms created with Designer 8.x.

Forms created in Acrobat will likely give those users fewer problems. Reader 6 users should at least be able to fill and print, and probably save and email, but you should try to test your forms with Reader 6 if you can.

email function failed email aborted

Function failed to distribute the survey form to respondents (Designer and Acrobat Pro 9)

Can the form be sent as an attached document via regular email?

How can tracker be implemented to collect return data?

Okay ill offer this advise, do not use the email button from the library.

If you want the user to send the pdf back filled out follow these steps.

Create a normal button, under controle type select submit.
Hit the new submit tap.
In the field Submit to url type this.

mailto:thepersonthisgoesto [at] wherever [dot] com?subject="Whatever your subject is"&body="Whatever you want the email to say"Now under Submit as choose PDF
save close.
Open it back up in Adobe Acrobat Pro
go to advanced -> Enable Usage Rights for Reader.DO NOT SAVE OVER YOUR MASTER give it a new name.

I think this should work.
