Importing Excel Data into a LiveCycle Text Field

I am trying to import Excel 2003 cell data into a LiveCycle text field which will automatically refresh once the LiveCycle .pdf is republished. I have limited JavaScript experience, and would certainly be willing to paste a calculation script somewhere if necessary. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

@ Jennifer

Hi,

try to start with this tutorial by Stefan Cameron. It's very beginner friendly.

Later you can go ahead with this one.

I have looked through the tutorials above, but saw no reference to importing a particular xls cell data (it just taked about importing databases.) I have a LiveCycle form that needs to import information from an Excel cell. There are numerous places throughout my form where I need to import various cell data. In other words, I need some type of command in the text box that says the value of the text box = [file path / spreadsheet name / worksheet / cell column and row ID]. Any ideas?

You can create a named area or range within an Excel file and that area will work like a table in a database.

Thank you for the response. Please forgive me - databases (and frankly, Excel spreadsheets) are not my expertise (far from it!) I have about a hundred cells that I need to link to throughout my form. Would I need to "create" a database for each one of these? What do I do with the database once I define it in Excel... How do I import the data into a .pdf? Would I need to create a schema for each spreadsheet? (One of the tutorials mentions creating a schema.) ... I need any help you're willing to provide. Thanks!!!

Hi, I am trying to also link specific cells to fill in fields on an Adobe livecycle pdf (or just plain pdf if that works better). Jennifer, did you figure this out?
