LiveCycle Designer ES crashes everytime I want to open it.

Anonymous

Working on a form last week I noticed various problems in the way LC dispalyed graphics (almost in reverse), or the fact that I could not move objects freely on the design page. I save that form as a PDF.

Next time I tried to open the PDF, a crash message showed saying that:
"Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES has encountered a problem and nees to close. We are sorry for the incovenience". The Error Signature said: "AppName: formdesigner.exe AppVer: 8.2.1.3144 ModName: formdesigner.exe ModVer: 8.2.1.3144 Offset: 000a50cb

Ever since that time, every time I tried to open Live Cycle independently, or trhough Acrobat Pro, it crashes. Same message over and over. Same happens for an existing form or if I want to create a blank fomr.

I have the Adobe Designer Suite, which includees Adobe Acrobat Pro v.9.00. which has LiveCycle Desiner ES, v8.2. I work in a network on a Windows XP platform.

Can anyone tell me what may be happening? Is there patches I need to install? I will appreciate any information that may lead me to understand what's going on.

Thanks in advance for you time and advice,
Rocio

Try to delete the "Designer" folder in your user profile.

You find it under c:\documents and setting\username\application data\Adobe\
The folder will be recreated automatically on next start of Designer.

radzmar, thanks for your response.

I looked in drive C... .Adobe/Acrobat/ for the Designer folder and the only folder with I found was the "Designer Version#". I did not deleted it because it contains the execute files, and I think one of those might be for the LiveCycle Designer application, so how would I start it after? There are no other folder named only "Designer".

Is the intent with the deleting of the "designer folder" to reset the application to default preferences?

Thanks again for your feedback :)

Hmm,

I think you looked for the folder in the wong directory.
The folder "Designer 8.2" ,you told of, is located under c:\program files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\ and really shouldn't be changed in any way.
The folder "Designer" ,I described, is in your user profile under c:\documents and setting\%YourUsername%\application data\Adobe\.
Maybe you will have to change your folder settings first, to see the folder "Application Data", because it is generally hidden.
Otherwise you can navigate to your user profile folder with the windows explorer "c:\documents and setting\%YourUsername%\" and then manually type in the rest of the path into the address line.

Knock on wood!

Well Marcus, I am SO glad I did not deleted the wrong folder.
Now I think I know which one you are talking about.

I will give it a try later and let you know how that works. Thanks again for your assistance!
