Livecycle form: Send button not working for Adobe Reader 8 users

Hello,

I have created a form with LiveCycle 8.0. The form has a submit button to submit a pdf of the completed form via email. The form works when I test it on any users computer with Adobe professional installed. However, anyone that only has Adobe Reader 8 installed can only open the form and enter data....the submit button will not work for these users.

Could anyone please give me some advice? I need users without Adobe Pro to be able to open, fill out the form, and send via the submit button/email.

Thanks for any help

Brett

Review the properties of the submit button. Make sure it is set to a format compatible with Adobe Reader. PDF or HTML are best for Reader users.

You could also consider purchasing a LiveCycle Adobe Reader Extension license.

Hi Brett,

Check out your properties on the Submit form button. If you have "PDF The Complete Document" selected then you'll either need to Reader-enable your form with Acrobat 8 Pro. or change your Export format. Reader-enabling allows the entire form to be saved not just the data, which is important when end users have Reader.

Hope this helps,
Lori

I'm having the same problem - users not being able to get the submit button to function properly. Either it opens a new message window and puts the "To" address in twice, or it doesn't open anything at all.

I'm confused by both of the responses here - they say to "check the properties of the submit button," but as far as I can tell, that only works with a generic button. I don't see where to find the "properties" of the email submit button. The only details I can see are on the Options tab, and there is nothing there about export formats. I know that the reader-enabling feature is done in Acrobat after you've finished with the form in LiveCycle (and I've set that up properly), but I can't figure out where to locate the other information that is mentioned by the respondents.

If anyone can provide clarification, I would greatly appreciate it - thanks!!
