Need to change LiveCycle field name for mapping purposes in Acrobat 8

Hi, I take pdf forms from States websites to use in our claim system. We map specific field names to our system so it can pull the data into the form. Some of the forms on the websites were created in LiveCycle. I can open the forms there and change the field names to the names I need for mapping, but when I then open them in Acrobat, the field names have a bunch of properties from LiveCycle that I need to get rid of. Acrobat won't let me do a field name change.

I can change the field name in LiveCycle to: EmployeeFirstName
But when I view it in Acrobat it looks like: topmostSubform[0].Page1[0].EmployeeFirsName[0]

Is there any way to get rid of the LiveCycle properties so it only has EmployeeFirstName in Acrobat?? I can't figure it out.

Thanks very much.

I have the same question. It appears no one has answered you. Anyone out there know the answer to to this post?

Hi JohnK,

The short answer is that Acrobat and LiveCycle Designer are two completely separate programs and forms created in one program cannot be edited (for the most part) in the other program. LiveCycle Designer PDF forms are XFA forms with a PDF wrapper around them. The PDF wrapper allows an XFA form to be viewed and filled out in Acrobat and Adobe Reader, but it is not a PDF form (AcroForm), which can only be created in Acrobat. Best practice is if your form was created in LiveCycle Designer, then do any editing work in LiveCycle Designer and visa versa.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri
