We have had real difficulties with LCD crashing whenever we make changes to the script editor window in 8.1.

We have three laptops and the problem occurs on two of them. We are currently trying to reinstall the software but we have no idea why this problem is occuring. We have tried a number of forms on the affected machines and the same thing happens.

HELP!

There is a know bug in LiveCycle Designer, that can cause a crash of the application.

Open your form and save it as xdp-file.
Then use a text editor or hex editor (tine hexer works pretty good) to open the file and look for a line like

<?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>
or
<?templateDesigner StyleID aped3?>if the line is repeated thousends of times, delete them all and save the file.
Reopen the file with Designer and save it again.
Then check out if the problem still occurs or not.

Another way to solve problems with Designer is to delete the appilcation folder (named Designer) under i.e. c:\documents and setting\username\application data\Adobe\ .
The folder will be automatically recreated on next start of designer.
Designer then will run with it's default settings, so you will have to reactivate some windows like the script editor.
