In previous versions of Adobe we were able to set the font size to AutoSize. This allowed the font to change to fit the text within the confines of the text box. How do I duplicate this functionality in Designer?

Simply select the object and set the font size to zero using the Font palette.

Stefan Cameron obtained his bachelor's degree with Honors in Computer Science at the University of Ottawa and is a Computer Scientist working on Adobe's LiveCycle server products, in particular on LiveCycle Designer ES for the past 5 years.

Thanks for the response. I did go through that exercise but ended up with size 0 font text regardless of the amount of text entered. I have found that you need to also allow multiple lines of text (check box on the Object tab) for it to operate properly. Thanks,

You can also check the Limit Length to Visible Area so a user doesn't end up adding more text that will visibly fit in the field.

It seems that when the text being entered in the field reaches a certain size it stops resizing and you can enter more text than will fit in the field so that you get a text overflow indicator. To limit the amount of text that will fit in the field make sure the Limit Length to Visible Area check box is checked. Then when the text reaches the minimum size it can go only the amount of text that will fit in the field will be allowed.

This works with single line text fields as well as with multiple line fields. I tried it out with both Allow Multiple Lines and Limit Length to Visible Area checked and was allowed to put three lines of very small text in the field before I couldn't type any more characters.
