selective drop down

How do I take two drop downs and have one respond with a list based on the items selected in the first box.

Example.
If I select Animal in drop down box 1 - drop down box 2 will display ONLY cat, dog, bird.

If I select Food in drop down box 1 - drop down box 2 wil display ONLY bread, milk and butter
