Hi,
 
I created an adobe form for use in my organisation, which when submitted transfers as .xml, but have been experimenting with changing to using the standard button wit a submit function specifying PDF.
 
Although this works perfectly with my pc as i have pro, when other people use it does nothing. Will this feature only work with Pro users, or am I doing something wrong?

Are you creating creating the forms with Lifecycle of just changing a word document to a PDF document?

If you want Reader users to be able to send the complete PDF, the document has to be Reader-enabled using Acrobat. Exactly how you do this depends on which version of Acrobat you're using.

My version of acrobat pro is version 9, the versions of reader are various but the standard is 7. Any idea where I could find out more?

To Reader-enable a document with Acrobat 9, select: Advanced -- Extend Features in Adobe Reader.

As long as you don't distribute the form to more than 500 recipients, you won't run up against the licensing restriction.

Thanks for your help, will check that out. I had planned to host the form on out intranet, as it is an ad hoc form, will that not work? if necessary I can redesign the form periodically to ensure it does not exceed 500 uses

Goodness me! People here really do complicate the issue. Fistly, you can use Lifecycle's email submit button and cheat to get to send as a PDF. Go to 'View' > XML Source: Then 'Edit' > Find: Type 'Sumbit Format' and it will show you where the format is held in the code. Simply change the 'XML' for PDF. Job's a good'un!To ensure the world and his wife can open the form with Reader, open the file in Pro, go to Advanced' and 'Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader'. Just save the file where necessary. Job Done!
