I have Acrobat Pro 8.0. I have been using the program to convert Word 2003 documents to Forms. I use the LiveCycle Designer to recognize the form fields. The program does a pretty good job for the most part. My objective to create forms that users can complete and save using Acrobat Reader.
I am having two problems.
1. Setting tab order. LiveCycle does not cooperate well when attempting to set the tab order. I follow the instructions to Shift+Click the 1st field then sequentially click the rest. However, when tested, the tabs seem to want to follow a path of their own. What is the issue here?
2. I choose Edit Layout from inside AA Pro 8.0 when I have a form that is working but needs to be edited. This opens LiveCycle which allows me to perform what ever edit I desire. I save the form and send it to the user but, get the complaint that they can no longer use the form with Reader. Effectively, I have to start over from the word document every time an edit is required. I convert to PDF, run the field recognition with LiveCycle, reset all of my fields, create the fields that were recognized, etc, etc, etc.
Then I save the file as a new name and bestow upon the form the usage rights for Reader and distribute the new form. Why does editing the form remove and not allow the usage rights to remain in tact?
1) LiveCycle does not recognize form fields. Acrobat does.
2) You are following the correct procedure to set tab order. See Tab Order in Designer Help for the options to automatically set tab order. It appears you have selected an option that overrides your manual settings.
3) You are creating Designer forms, not Acrobat ones. Check your Designer settings for the version level you are saving as. It sounds like you are saving the forms as Acrobat/Reader 8, but your end user has an older version.
4)Let's hope Adobe fixes the bug you mention in the last paragraph--Editing the form does remove all usage rights in Acrobat 8.0.
