Acrobat Pro 9 - Extremely slow

We have upgraded Acrobat to Acrobat Pro 9.0... it is extremely slow compared to the older program. Our systems have 1GB RAM along with at least 90GB free per computer with a Pentium 4 3.4Ghz computer. What could be the reason for this?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

The stock answer is "it shouldn't be" - A9 was carefully written to reduce loading times, but having said that a 1 gig system is rather feeble: depending what OS and other programs you're running, you may simply be running out of memory and forcing use of the swapfile.

As a benchmark, how long does it take for the UI to appear after clicking on something? I've just timed on this machine (Core2 1.8GHz, 3G RAM, XP pro 32) and it takes 2.5 seconds.

I encountered the same, without a resolution.
My specific behaviors/observations are:
- it used to be perfect/snappy
- perhaps some software i installed disturbed something? I reinstalled Actobat Pro from CS3 DVD and no improvement
- specific bad behavior is: it loads instantly but then freezes a few seconds later, for about 1 minute, and then after that freeze period, it's snappy and no problems. During the freeze period acrobat.exe is taking "50%" (meaning 100% of one of the processors)
- for a portion of the time a second process is taking "40%" acrobatinfo.exe

any thoughts?

I just upgraded to Acrobat Pro 9, and it takes 50 seconds to open the program when I open it automatically by downloading a .pdf file from email (even with very small file sizes). I am running XP and have 2Gb of RAM. When I had 7 Standard, it opened in under 5 seconds, under identical conditions. I agree that this should not happen, but does anyone have a fix?

What happens if you hold down the Shift key when launching Acrobat? This causes no plugins to be loaded, and usually results in Acrobat loading very quickly. You can then try removing all plug-ins and introduce them back one-by-one, and through trial-and-error may be able to get some clues as to the cause.
