Hi there
Can anyone offer any suggestions. I am using the latest version of Acrobat Pro 9.2 running on Vista. Foe the last couple of days I have been driven insane by a windows security feature - Data Execution Prevention keeps shutting acrobat pro down insisting that it is using memory in an unsafe manner....

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.2, Windows

Have you tried changing your DEP settings to exclude Acrobat 9?

No - I wasn't prepared to do that because of the Adobe Critical alert post regarding a security problem (in 9.1.3) which is apparently fixed in 9.2 but the advice (for 9.1.3) was to use DEP to keep u'reself safe. (CVE-2009-3459).

The 9.2 release has only just come out and I'm not sure if it's actually fixed - today I've read loads of other posts sayin g this problem exists with 9.2.......

That isn't to say that the problem isn't with Windows...

Its true this has been an utter nightmare with a vast line of silence from Windows and Adobe regarding this issue...I m not upgrading again until someone at adobe clearly explains whats going on here and comes up with a bonafide related fix regarding this problem being recognised.

Therefore do what I have done to resolve the issue after days of headaches...remove adobe V9+ entirely and revert back to adobe reader V8.1.3
windows adobe link is pretty hard to source but its here on the Uk site

http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/otherversions/

then select your OS/platform and option for free magee software tick/untick (suggest untick)

once done you can print your docs again..leave ADOBE/windows to sort the mess out whilst we carry on being able to work or use the program again!

hope this helps

takes about 10-15 mins to sort...which is better that getting tangled up in poorly beta tested products

resolves probelm instantly

Couldn't find anything related so am posting here:

When I go to Control Program, Add/Remove Programs, I have two versions of Adobe listed: 9.2 (146MB) and 9.4.2 (149MB). The 9.2 does not have the typical red Adobe icon next to it but a computer monitor and a CD disk for an icon. the 9.4.2 the ueual red Adoce icon. When I try and remove/change the 9.2 if won't uninstall. I get a box that says "on a network resource that is unavailable".(?) Says I have to find a folder containing install package 'AdbeRdr90_en_US.msi'.

I have no clue how or what to do . . . plz help.

Thanx!
