How does activation work in that I understand it means sending data from one form to another?

Hi kenswim,

Activation is the process by which Adobe validates that the Acrobat license you have is legal/valid. It is a way for Acrobat to "phone home" and get verified by some gargantuan database of legitimate licenses. It really has nothing to do with the operation of the Acrobat application and has nothing to do with sending data from one form to another.
When you purchase a license of Acrobat you are allowed two activations so you can install it on two machines ( business case is that many people have both a laptop and desktop and need it on both). The activation mechanism is able to tell if you try to install Acrobat on a third machine and will not allow it. It also contains a Deactivation feature so if you get a new computer you can deactivate it on the old computer and reactivate on the new one.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri
