Adobe Reader is a PDF Reader, you can use it for reading PDF files, but you could not edit contents or save the PDF file to other format like office format or image format.

Adobe Acrobat is a PDF Editor, you can use it directly edit PDF contents like you do in Word. And you can save your PDF files as Word or other kinds of format. You can merge mutiple PDF files into one or split one into many.

Hope I have made me clear.

I will try my best to help you in PDF converison fields, objectively and Neutral.
