Aligning Text

I used to use Acrobat Version 5. I'm now planning on switching to version 8, standard edition (currently testing out the trial version).

My question is, with version 5 I would click on the text to edit it and right-click to select the attributes. In the attributes I could specify right-alignment, so as I edited the text, it would expand or detract to the left. But in 8.0 I can't find this feature. I go to essentially the same text attributes window, but it only provides limited options now. It treats all text as left justitfied, and it takes a bit of finagling to fix text that should actually be right justified.

Could it be that Adobe took away a useful feature? Seems crazy to me. Can someone more knowledable about the product explain what's happened?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8.1.2, Windows

That's why people still keep using version 5!

Yes, I did love 5.0. But it just isn't working anymore. I think it's due to software conflicts with newer software and OS updates. Anyway, 8.0 seemed much better than the v7.0 I tried.

Hi JustinC5000,

It's good to hear you're testing out Acrobat 8 Professional - hope you're finding lots of great new features?

On the Acrobat 5 front, I do remember the tools / touchup / text attributes / alignment option - this is no longer available, this changed with Acrobat 6. Removing this option creates an even playing field - hit some spaces are you're pretty much the same as you were in Acrobat 5.

Sorry not to have better news but Adobe did change things for the better since fonts are much more reliable in later releases - hope you'll agree once you've had more time to experiment?

Let us know your feedback.

All the best,

Jon

PS - check-out the new features with the touch-up object tool - just right click an image and you're away ...

I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999

I see. Too bad! Oh well. We went with the Pro edition just in case we needed the more robust features down the road. Thanks for your help.
