black border on scanned pages

Using Acrobat 8 standard
Windows XP and HP scanner

Somehow, something appears to have changed the default setting for scanning a 8.5/11 inch page
There are black borders to the left and the page appears to have lost the "normal" document margin on the right.
When the page is placed in the scanner feeder tray all the way to the left, the border is not there (on the left) but appears on the right..
There is something going on with the default page size or something similar??

I have set the Document defaults back (clicked restore defaults)
Anyone know how to get rid of the black border on the left??

Thanks
Jerry

Sounds like you may have selected Black Border scanning in your HP scanner preferences somehow. Many customers select that and then scan larger than the original document size so they can use image processing to detect the original edges using image processing and deskew and auto-align the pages...

I am having the same problem. Where do I turn off Black Border scanning. I don't see it in my preferences. I am using Acrobat 9.
