blacked out text

I downloaded Adobe 8.0 to my windows 2000 machine and when I open a .pdf file most of the text is blacked out. Oftentimes, if I zoom in or out, the blacked portions may be visible, but then other sections of the document become blacked out. Can you please help me repair this problem. Thank you.

Hi kidlou,

This sounds more like a monitor display issue; however, you can try these things.
- Install the Adobe Reader 8.1 update
- Run the Repair Acrobat Installation from the Help menu.
- Check your preferences Edit --> Preferences -->Page Display and set smooth text.Hope this helps,
