I'm a Mac OS X user of Acrobat X.
 
On the Windows platform I know there is that plugin tool "autobookmark" for semi-automatically creating bookmarks and named destinations. This tool is immensely useful for creating bookmarks for PDFs and maybe even for OCR'd scanned files.
 
I'm trying to look for a Mac platform equivalent. Is there one? What do Mac users of Acrobat X recommend? The built-in Acrobat X bookmarking tool is very basic and too "manual" to use for a large document like a technical manual or some large scanned files.

Arts PDF has a range of plugins which work on Windows and Mac, though they're expensive and not currently designed for use with Acrobat X. Arts was just taken over by Debenu, and the press release said they were planning to release free Acrobat X upgrades for their customers (no timelines though).
