Bookmarks in PDF file converted from Word 2003 and edited in Professional 7 (commenting enabled) display differently in Reader 7 and 8. In 8, when you open a file from the bookmark, then close the file or click Previous View, the navigation pane shows the Page, not Bookmark, view. In 7, using the same actions, the navigation pane correctly returns to the Bookmarks. Why does the same file display differently?
When you use the Go to Previous View tool, the original file opens with the settings in the Initial View tab. If the Initial View is set at the default, then I suspect you see different views because your preferences are set up differently in Reader 7 and 8.
To overcome the problem, open the Initial View properties (Ctrl/Command + D and click Initial View tab) and select Bookmarks Panel and Page from the Navigation Tab pull-down menu. Save your file and each time it opens the Bookmarks panel will open regardless of what user preferences are chosen in the Page Display Preferences.
